Endocardial Cushion Defect

چکیده
THE REPAIR of atrial septal defects was first undertaken over a decade ago.1'Although secundum-type defects could be closed adequately without the use of cardiopulmonary bypass, it soon became apparent that defects of the endocardial cushion type were not am-enable to correction by indirect technies.5 Accordingly, the need arose to differentiate these two lesions; the clinical, electrocardiographic, and hemodynamic characterization of each emerged subsequently.6-10 With the advent of cardiopulmonary bypass the surgeon has been afforded adequate visualization and the necessary time for rep,air of endocardial cushion defects. Several reports have appeared in the literature evaluating the immediate restlts of such correetion.11-14 However, no appraisal of long-term results of repair of endocardial cushion defects has been published. The purpose of this presentation is to report the results of surgical correction of endocardial cushion defects at The Children's Hospital Medical Center in 44 patients followed for at least 1 year postoperatively.

Complete endocardial cushion defects in pregnancy: a case report
INTRODUCTION Complete endocardial cushion defect is a congenital heart disease characterized by a variable deficiency of the atrioventricular area in the developing heart. The mortality rate for an unrepaired endocardial cushion defect in pregnancy and the postpartum period is high. CASE PRESENTATION We present a rare case of a pregnant woman with complete endocardial cushion defect. A 20-yea...

Conduction time from the region of the sinus node to the region of the atrioventricular (A-V) node was studied during open heart surgery in 13 patients with an endocardial cushion type atrial septal defect, eight patients with a secundum type atrial septal defect, one patient with a sinus venosus type atrial septal defect, and eight patients with an intact atrial septum. Internodal conduction t...

متن کاملSubxiphoid cross-sectional echocardiographic imaging of the "goose-neck" deformity in endocardial cushion defect.
The cross-sectional echocardiographic demonstration of the "goose-neck" deformity is described in four patients with endocardial cushion defect. The diagnosis was confirmed in each patient by left ventricular angiocardiogram. The subxiphoid approach of cross-sectional echocardiography in diastole allowed visualization of an elongated, narrowed, and somewhat horizontally inclined configuration o...
متن کاملElectrophysiologic Delineation of the Intraventricular His Bundle in Two Patients with Endocardial
Two patients who had an endocardial cushion type of ventricular septal defect underwent electrophysiologic studies for detection of specialized conduction tissue during operative repair. In one patient, with an inferior leftward frontal plane QRS axis on the ECG, we recorded an intraventricular His bundle electrogram anterior and superior to the ventricular septal defect. In the other patient, ...
